I was reflecting on matrimony again as I tried to pray. The information that came down for me is that the marital union is judged as one. I wouldn’t go so far as to say we should be confessing our spouses sins during reconciliation. Realistically it’s likely one spouse may be in sin the other is not aware of (the right hand unaware of what the left is doing). However, in such a predicament of concealed sins the one flesh is still judged as one.

While I believe the Eucharist, if necessary, can feed two that are one (eating for two!), the confessional cannot function the same. There is a potential danger if one spouse is in mortal sin unknown to the other that is taking communion. 

Redeemed as one. Judged as one. Pragmatically confessed and forgiven as two. Communed as one (if necessary) with some precautions to be mindful of.
